All teachers contracted with VIPKID who are U.S nationals/residents or required to pay US taxes. If you are unsure of your status, please consult a tax professional.

VIPKID was founded to provide the best English language education for children through qualified and talented teachers. As we move forward with our contracted teachers, we are also now required to report consulting payments within certain tax jurisdictions. Therefore, VIPKID will provide Forms 1099 MISC from the 2016 taxable year onwards.

Currently, VIPKID is implementing this policy according to the requirements of US tax law. This includes all US nationals and those obligated to pay US taxes according to US tax law.

For US nationals, your Form W-9 is required which includes your US Social Security Number (“SSN”) or Taxpayer Identification Number (“TIN”).

US tax law requires VIPKID to provide Form 1099 MISC if the payment meets the threshold for the associated payment($600/year) on or before January 31, following the calendar year end.

The information will be kept securely in VIPKID servers and used in order to prepare your tax documentation according to requirements of the IRS and in accordance with US tax law.

Only VIPKID has direct access to your personal tax information. It will not be shared with any third parties other than our US tax agency, but is subject to an audit by the IRS at their request.
