We hope this break encourages teachers to take breaks from social media as a key part of wellness and mental health.
We would like to clarify that in the event of a class or personal emergencies, site outages, payment delays, natural disasters, and other escalated situations, VIPKid staff will still be available to support over the weekend.
If you need support over the weekend, please consider the following:
- Send a support ticket to our team here for all regular inquiries.
- Reach out the VIPKid Advocacy account via direct message for any unusual, emergency, or escalated situations.
- Visit the Hutong.
- Check out the Community Social Directory.
During the weekend closures, the Facebook Group will still be accessible, however, posting and commenting will be unavailable.

What are weekend pauses?

Why are there weekend pauses?
The purpose of weekend pauses is to help promote a balance for teachers, our Moderation team, and internal staff. We hope this break encourages teachers to take breaks from social media as a key part of wellness and mental health.
When do weekend pauses start and end?
The Offical Facebook Group will “close for the weekend” on Fridays starting at 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) and reopen on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Time).
What does the Facebook Group look like during a weekend pause?
When trying to access the Facebook Group during the weekend pause, teachers will see a banner that says “This Group Has Been Archived”. Teachers will be able to see all posts and comments when the group is “archived”, but will be unable to create new posts or comments or likes.
Once the weekend pause has concluded, the group will be fully accessible once again.
What if there is an emergency and I need to get in touch with the VIPKid team over the weekend?
We understand that there are times when teachers need support over the weekend for various reasons, such as classroom or personal emergencies, site outages, payment delays, natural disasters, and other escalated situations.
VIPKid staff will still be available and around to support over the weekend in the event of such events.

During weekend pauses, our Support team and Advocacy team are available.
If the Advocacy team needs to make an announcement, how will I be informed?
Please note that in the event of an emergency or if the VIPKid Advocacy team needs to get in touch with the larger teacher community, we will post an announcement on the VIPKid Advocacy page here: https://www.facebook.com/VIPKidSupport
Additionally, if needed, an administrator will post updates to the Official Facebook Group.
What if I want to connect with other teachers during the weekend?
We understand that teachers want to connect with other teachers on the platform over the weekend for various reasons.
If you would still like to connect with other teachers over the weekend, we recommend the following:
- Visiting the Hutong.
- Checking out the Community Social Directory.
In case a teacher missed the announcement about the weekend pauses or missed the Community Guidelines, VIPKid will make an announcement and dedicated post each Friday prior to the weekend pause. This announcement will include the date, time, and FAQs about weekend pauses.
I prefer to be able to access the Official Facebook Group over the weekend. Is this permanent?
Please note that we are experimenting with weekend pauses as a temporary change. It is possible that there will be changes to the weekend closures plan, so please stay tuned for updates.
